On Tuesday, November 7, 550+ faculty, lay leaders, and invited guests gathered for the 10th anniversary Quest for Teaching Excellence Conference. At this challenging time, we appreciated the opportunity to gather together as a community for a day of learning. Over the course of the day, participants took part in a wide variety of learning opportunities including 50+ workshops, facilitated affinity groups, and an AI Game Show with Barry Joseph.
The Quest for Teaching Excellence Conference is an opportunity for our educators to learn together and from each other. This collaborative event is part of the Greater MetroWest Day School Initiative of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest, and a $1 million+ effort to enhance professional development in our four schools: Golda Och Academy, Gottesman RTW Academy, Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy/Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School and the Jewish Educational Center/Bruriah Middle and High School.
We are honored to have had keynote speaker, Tal Ben-Shahar, an internationally renowned teacher and author, start the day with his address, Wellbeing in Schools: Applying the Science of Happiness. We also honored this year’s recipients of the Jerry Gottesman Award for the Pursuit of Teaching Excellence: Nina Bilmes (Golda Och Academy), Sheri Swiss (Gottesman RTW Academy), Jonathan Garcia (The Jewish Educational Center), and Linda Litland (Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy).
