Holidays in Greater MetroWest

Seven weeks after Passover ends, it’s time to celebrate Shavuot — a two-day holiday celebrated this year from sunset on June 11 until nightfall on June 13. Shavuot marks the biblical story of receiving the Ten Commandments and the Torah at Mt. SinaiOriginally a harvest holiday, today people celebrate the holiday by staying up all night to learn Torah, hearing the reading of the Ten Commandments in synagogue, lighting candles, feasting on dairy foods (cheesecake and ice cream anyone?), and more.
