Together for Shabbat

Date: Friday, February 2
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm (EST)
Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled (JSDD)
Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ

This program will bring together the JSDD community (residents, WAE Center members, families, caregivers) in person to celebrate Shabbat. Currently, JSDD’s Judaic Coordinator hosts a virtual Shabbat dinner with residents and members; participants sing, recite prayers, and learn about the weekly torah portion. “Together for Shabbat” will be an incredibly special event providing an opportunity for reflection, friendship, connection, and to celebrate the significance of 100 years of Federation.

The timing of this event is perfect, it coincides with the start of JDAIM (Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month). Heidi Gallery at JSDD will be unveiling the exhibit “Wonderful Chaos” highlighting artists with disabilities the night before. During “Together for Shabbat,” artists will have the chance to show their work to housemates, family, and caregivers.

JSDD would be honored to come together as a group and simultaneously connect with the larger MetroWest community. The JSDD community is diverse and experiences our many differences as a key component of our commitment to learning, inclusion and creativity. The Shabbat program and accompanying art exhibit will make for an exciting and memorable experience.
