Discussing Alcohol and Drugs with Your Middle Schooler

It’s a difficult conversation to have, but we’re here to help. Parents of middle school students are invited to join the experts from Communities Against Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) for a virtual workshop to learn how to recognize potential issues and engage your children in conversations on this important topic.

We’ll discuss:  

  • the science of addiction and how it occurs  
  • current data and drug trends among youth  
  • how to recognize when a child may be struggling with substance use and/or mental health issues  
  • risk and prevention factors  
  • communication skills and approaches to discussing substance use with your child 
  • the importance of modeling behaviors and understanding current resources and support available
