Assistant to the Finance Manager
Temple Beth Shalom is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Assistant to the Finance Manager to join our team for 20 hours per week. This position works closely with our Finance Manager and helps manage the day-to-day financial operations of our synagogue.
This is also a people-facing position, with regular interaction with congregants about accounts, payments, tuition, dues, and other financial matters. We’re looking for someone who is friendly, professional, and committed to excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
-Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices and payments.
-Maintain member accounts and process payments for dues, tuition, donations, programs, and other charges.
-Serve as a point of contact for congregants with billing, payment, and account questions.
-Prepare member statements and monitor outstanding balances.
-Perform bank reconciliations and accurately record deposits, transfers, and journal entries.
-Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation.
-Assist the Finance Manager with month-end reporting and other financial and administrative projects.
-Maintain confidentiality of member, donor, employee, and synagogue financial information.
Qualifications:
At least three years of bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable/receivable, or related financial experience.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
Experience with Excel, Google Workspace, and accounting software.
ShulCloud experience is a plus
