JCRC’s Delegation Heads to Washington

Linda Scherzer JCRC Director
JCRC’s delegation to Washington, DC

Recently, our Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) led a delegation of 14 representatives from across the state on a lobbying mission to Washington, DC.

In meetings with Senators Booker and Kim, as well as NJ Members of the House of Representatives, we conveyed the view shared by many (though not all) members of our community, that recent US strikes against Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities are necessary to ensure America’s long-terms security interests.

We conveyed the message that two things can be true at the same time.  First, that there are legitimate concerns that President Trump did not secure constitutionally required approval from Congress to launch these strikes.  And, that Operation Epic Fury was a necessary effort to reduce the short and long-term threat, restore deterrence and advance the safety and security of America and its allies.  That support is grounded in Iran’s long record of regional destabilization, sponsorship of terrorist proxies and pursuit of missile and nuclear capabilities that threaten the US, Israel and others in the region.

Our delegation was represented by JCRC Chair Ben Hoffer, JCRC Director Linda Scherzer, steering committee member Amy Paternite, Mindy Opper and JCRC professionals and lay leaders from across the state.
