CommUNITY Mitzvah Day Plus 2024 was incredible!
It was an opportunity to put our Jewish values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedakah (charitable giving) into action, making a real impact on the lives of others. On the six-month anniversary of the terrorist attacks of October 7, this was a way for us to spread light during dark times and address real needs in our community here and in Israel!
On behalf of the entire community, thank you to all who donated their time and energy to make this effort such a huge success. And a special thank you to CommUNITY Mitzvah Day Plus sponsors Daniel Rocker and Joshua Rocker and families in honor of their parents Marian & David Rocker.
More than 800 volunteers of all ages participated in hands-on and learning mitzvah projects across Greater MetroWest and helped thousands of others in the process. Together we:
- Packed 1,000 kosher for Passover food packages
- Packed 275 female hygiene kits
- Packed 250 art supply kits for Israeli children displaced after October 7
- Photographed hundreds of headstones in one of our historic Newark Jewish cemeteries
- Cooked, packed, donated, and served families experiencing homelessness and hardship
- Collected 100 pairs of sneakers for Israeli teens
- Created and packed 100 pamper kits for Israeli widows of October 7
- Participated in deep and compelling Jewish learning opportunities for teens and adults on the topics of antisemitism and anti-Zionism
- And so much more!
