On Thursday, September 12, Next Chapter, an exciting new initiative, hosted a “meet and greet” drawing over 100 participants, spanning all 5 Greater MetroWest counties. This new initiative comes in response to the 2020 Greater MetroWest community study showing that adults 55+ are seeking increased involvement and Jewish community connection.
The event was the first of its kind, and we were thrilled by the impressive turnout. Moreover, there was palpable eagerness for upcoming events. Throughout the evening, attendees schmoozed and broke bread with friends old and new, helped create metal anemone flowers for our October 7 memorial garden, and heard about upcoming Federation programs.
The Next Chapter Vision
“Whether you live across the street, in Israel, or across the globe, The Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest is there for all members of our Jewish community,” shared Joan Levinson, Next Chapter Co-Chair. “We help others in need. Sometimes that need is about feeling connected and part of something truly meaningful. Which is why I am excited to Co-Chair Next Chapter, a new Federation program, designed specifically to include, engage and connect with the vibrant 55-year plus population in our Jewish community.”
Fellow Next Chapter Co-Chair, Robin Plattman added, “There are times in life when people especially seek connection. I envision Next Chapter as a meaningful group where individuals with shared interests in the Jewish community can connect with like-minded people.”

We value the voices of every single one of our community members. Your ideas for events and programs are not only welcomed but encouraged. “We want to hear what YOU are interested in,” urged Next Chapter Co-Chair, Merle Lomrantz. “Your suggestions will shape the future of our programs.”
Lomrantz continued, “I recently read a quote in ‘The New York Times’ which basically summed up what I’m doing:
‘Don’t ask me what I did for a living. What I do now is living life.’”
