On October 1, Steve Levy will assume the role as Interim CEO of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, taking over the helm from Dov Ben-Shimon, who departs on September 30, after a decade as CEO.
Levy, who most recently served five years as President of the Board of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest, will be new to this position, but not to Greater MetroWest, previously having served in communal leadership positions at the Gottesman RTW Academy, the Gottesman Family Supporting Foundation, and the Pennington Leadership Council.
“I started my community volunteer work in earnest in 2005, after retiring from almost 20 years on Wall Street. Over the years, I have worked with Jewish Day Schools, and a wide variety of positions in our Federation and Foundation. Most recently my focus has been on financial sustainability and leading our $250 million Centennial Campaign,” shared Levy.
“I’m honored for the opportunity to lead the team at Federation at this critical time. In addition to prioritizing a smooth transition, I’m also looking forward to helping our incredibly dedicated, competent, and talented team of professionals and lay leaders as we expand our service to the Jewish communities here in New Jersey, in Israel, and around the globe.”
Levy has a strong financial and corporate background, with many years as a Securities Analyst for leading investment banks as well as serving on several publicly traded corporate Boards, including his current position for Israeli-based Allot Communications.
Michael Goldberg, President of the Board, extends a warm welcome to Levy. “I look forward to working with Steve to continue to move forward Federation’s work.” Goldberg had previously announced that Federation has tapped long-time community leaders Jane Wilf and Peter Langerman as co-chairs of the search committee. They will identify a committee that will conduct a formal search for the next CEO.
“Until the new CEO is named, Federation will thrive under Levy’s leadership, and we will continue to serve our community as we have for more than 100 years,” said Goldberg.
