Federation Is Committed to Supporting Congregational Educators

At Federation we recognize that congregational school educators are a key component to engaging the children and teens in our Greater MetroWest community. We have longstanding partnerships with our synagogues and schools, providing educational and networking opportunities, tools and resources, and consultative services to the professionals who engage with our families every day. Our goal is to support a Jewish community in which every member has a place to meaningfully participate and belong.

We’re excited to offer these two new professional development opportunities for congregational school educators.

The Newer Teacher Fellowship is open to educators who have been teaching for less than five years. Participants will attend six monthly virtual training sessions with educators from across the country, plus four in-person sessions with local colleagues. Topics to be covered in the virtual sessions include classroom management and community building, social-emotional-spiritual learning, inclusive classrooms, and more. In-person sessions will provide opportunities to reflect upon what’s been learned and discuss practical applications. As a culminating project, each fellow will design a workshop to present to colleagues at their congregational school.  A stipend of $360 will be awarded to each fellow who completes the program in full.

The Inclusive Educator Network is open to both new and experienced educators who engage with diverse learners in their classrooms. The five workshops (in-person and on Zoom) and ongoing communication with Federation’s Manager of Community Inclusion will provide new skills and resources to support inclusive classrooms. Participants will learn from one another, share resources, and receive ongoing professional development from experts in the field of disability inclusion. Each participating school, upon completion of the series, will be eligible to receive a small grant to use towards their accessibility and inclusion efforts.

Both programs are open to all congregational school educators for only a small fee to be contributed by the synagogue.
