Temple Har Shalom: Pride Shabbat Service

We will be having a guest speaker, Beth Achenbach, an out lesbian artist and cultural leader living in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 2002 she began volunteering with Jersey City Lesbian and Gay Outreach (JCLGO), the organization that founded Jersey City Pride as the festival Photographer and later as the organization’s Special Events Director.

Beth, the original founders, and current producers of Jersey City Pride are featured in a new documentary, “Strength through Visibility: 20 Years of Pride in Jersey City.” The film which was originally supposed to be a 10 minute spot to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Jersey City Pride ended up becoming a 45 minute story illustrating what anyone with a drive to make a difference can do even when they face opposition
