Shared History, Shared Future: The Black-Jewish Relationship

As we honor Black History Month, we are reminded of the deep and enduring bonds between the Jewish and African American communities, and the work Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ’s Coalition for Jewish and African American Unity continues to do. Many of you may be watching PBS’s Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History.
In that spirit, we invite you to join us for Shared History, Shared Future: The Black-Jewish Community Relationship on Friday, February 20.
During this Federation co-sponsored event, Dr. David Jefferson Jr., Director of the Center for Africana Studies at Kean University, Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, and member of Federation’s Interfaith Clergy Leaders, will speak during Shabbat services, followed by a dinner and conversation between Dr. Jefferson and Rabbi Gewirtz at 7 p.m.
This meaningful evening is open to the entire Greater MetroWest NJ community.
