CARES Professional Development Day

Date: Friday, May 3
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (EDT)

Ethical Dilemmas in Working with Older Adults

A free professional development event for Greater MetroWest agency staff who work with older adults.

Speaker:  Stephen Sidorsky, LCSW, Continuing Education Instructor, Rutgers School of Social Work

The population of older adults is growing, changes are occurring in cultural norms and beliefs and in the definition of family, and costly medical technologies are extending lives. As welcome as these changes may be, they also pose challenges to professionals who work with older adults.

This program will present a working model of ethical practice. Through case studies and examples, we will explore the issues of individual autonomy, “quality of life vs. quantity of life,” competence, confidentiality, and balancing the needs of the older adult with those of their family and the community.

The Rutgers School of Social Work will provide Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) – 2.0 Ethics.

Registration is now closed. Questions? Contact Mara Gellman at [email protected] or (973) 929-3096.

Security at Federation Events

The Greater MetroWest Community Security Initiative (CSI) is coordinating all security with local police departments. As with every Federation event, every available resource is being utilized to ensure our safety. Two important items of note:

  • Backpacks, luggage, or large purses will not be allowed inside. We encourage you not to bring a bag, if possible, or to bring a very small bag. All bags will be subject to search.
Please do not share Federation events on Facebook Live or any other livestream platform.
  • Building an inclusive community is a priority. Please email [email protected] to let us know if you require accommodation to meaningfully participate in an event. One of our Federation professionals will reach out to you to learn more.
