Adath Shalom Open Door Minyan

For over the past 8 years, Adath Shalom has been hosting monthly programming for adults in the community who have special needs. Many guests join us from Jewish Services for the Developmentally Disabled Residences, though we also have guests who live in other home environments. Adath Shalom’s monthly program includes a Shabbat service utilizing a special interactive prayer book created especially for our guests and designed specifically for prayer interaction. Guests receive parts, known as Aliyot during the service. Volunteers sit with guests to assist. Following the 1-hour service, attendees enjoy a congregational Kiddush lunch followed by singing with the Rabbi and/or Cantor and sometimes even a Shabbat sensitive project and/or game.
