Creating Connections for Families

Aliyah Walters PJ Library & Young Families Associate

In the Young Family/PJ Library space, we believe in the power of community and the joy of shared experiences. This summer, our events were filled with laughter, fun, and new friendships and we created spaces where children played while parents connected. These gatherings were not just about the activities but the smiles, the conversations, and the sense of belonging that blossomed among families.

The PJ Library program has been a cornerstone of Federation’s community engagement efforts. By increasing the age limit to send books to children up to age 12, we’ve kept families excited about reading and learning together. Plus, our Mazel Tov baby packets, distributed through local synagogues and hospitals, have been a wonderful way to welcome new families into our fold from the very beginning. These packets are filled with resources that envelop new parents and their babies in the warmth of our community.

We are hyper aware of how busy today’s families are, which is why we carefully plan our events to fit seamlessly into your busy schedules. Our winter Coffee and Community events offer a cozy morning gathering, while our summer Cereal Bar and Tie Dye Pop-ups provide a fun and relaxed evening out. We strive to create low-barrier, engaging opportunities that meet families where they are, making it easy for you to connect, unwind, and enjoy quality time together.

As we continue to build a stronger community together, we understand the importance of hearing from you! Our Young Family Committee is more than just a group — it’s a community of passionate individuals dedicated to fostering connections and creating lasting memories directly in your neighborhood. As our committee members grow and take on new roles within Federation, their commitment to our shared mission shines through. From hands-on service projects to collaborative events, we are building a sense of belonging and support within the Greater MetroWest community. It’s about making connections that are accessible, meaningful, and enriching for all families.

We’re excited about the future and look forward to continuing to connect families, celebrate our Jewish heritage, and build a stronger, more inclusive community. Join us at our upcoming events and become a part of our vibrant Young Family network. Together, we can make a difference and create lasting memories for our children and families.
