“I just wanted to sit across from an individual who might not be with us anymore and feel as though I was having a conversation with them!” Heather Smith (Storyfile CVO and Co-Founder)

In 2010, Heather Smith was creating an exhibit on intergenerational testimony with Holocaust survivors. While speaking with a survivor, she realized her grandchildren would never have a learning opportunity like this. That’s when she got the idea for Storyfile.

She created a 3D prototype, and ultimately partnered with the USC Shoah Foundation and USC Institute of Creative Technologies to develop an in-depth interactive interview methodology to preserve the stories of humanity for future generations.

In 2017, along with her husband, Steven, she launched StoryFile to create a cloud-based, no-code, automatic platform that would bring the power of conversational video into everyone’s hands.

Our Greater MetroWest community has had the gift of many Holocaust survivors who have been willing and able to share their stories of struggle and survival with countless students and adults for decades, reinforcing the lesson of why we must “Never Forget.” But sadly, first-hand Holocaust survivor testimony is going to end, and the next generation will not have the privilege of meeting and interacting with survivors.

Our Holocaust Council is developing a variety of ways to keep their stories alive. We’re excited to share that now, as part of our arsenal of educational tools, we have Storyfiles of two local survivors — Hanna Wechsler and Mark Schonwetter.

If you’re interested in bringing this opportunity to your school, business, or organization, fill out this form and we’ll be in touch. We look forward to your participation in this meaningful and extraordinary program.
