At times like this, what helps us feel better is performing small acts of kindness that make lives better for individuals in our community. Volunteering and doing good for others and the community provides a sense of accomplishment, a sense of purpose, and a sense of pride.
The Center for Volunteerism provides a variety of service opportunities to care for those in need, strengthen our Jewish community, and make a difference in the lives of others. See below for meaningful ways to engage at every age and check back often — we’re always adding new service projects to the calendar.
Current OpportunitiesPreserve the History in Our Newark Jewish Cemeteries
Photograph gravestones to be sent to the JewishGen Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR). These photos will offer an opportunity for people living far away to “visit” their loved ones in these cemeteries, as well as to preserve the historical value of the graves.

Preparing for your bar or bat mitzvah is a very important time in your Jewish journey. Mitzvot of Greater MetroWest provides so many exciting ways that you can give your support and make a real difference in our community. Volunteers needed to read to children in local elementary and preschools. Books and training are provided through the Reading Buddies program.

Assist with long-term volunteer opportunities, such as visiting with isolated seniors, deliver meals and care packages to isolated seniors and Holocaust survivors for major holidays, organize a drive for care packages for clients, and host a fundraising effort.
