Paula and David Saginaw have been long-standing and deeply committed leaders in our Jewish community — locally, nationally, and in Israel.

David is the immediate past president of our Jewish Federation (2020-2023), chaired Federation’s executive committee, and serves on both the executive committee and board of trustees of the Jewish Community Foundation. He led our Greater MetroWest community with strength and compassion during a difficult time in our community’s history, with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting every member of our community.

Paula’s leadership roles include serving on the board of trustees of both Federation and Jewish Community Foundation. She is a past UJA Campaign Chair, past president and lifetime member of Women’s Philanthropy, and an incredible role model mentoring the next generation of leaders. Paula is actively involved in our Global Connections department, previously serving as chair and most recently as fundraising chair of the Amir Shacham Living Bridge Endowment Fund. Currently, she co-chairs the Society Fellowship, an executive leadership program of our overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC).

Paula and David are longtime members of the William & Betty Lester and Lion of Judah Endowment Societies, recognizing the importance of securing the future of the UJA Annual Campaign for the next century and beyond.

In 2011, Paula and David, along with Paula’s family, Sylvia Fried z”l, Dr. Steven Fried, and Dr. Robert Fried, established the Fried-Saginaw Mission Endowment Fund, which provides subsidies for first-time participants on Greater MetroWest missions to Israel and our partner community in Cherkassy, Ukraine. They recognized that missions are a vital entre for members of Greater MetroWest to witness first-hand the vital work our Federation makes possible, deepen their engagement with our Federation and each other, increase their giving, and form strong bonds with Israel and our partnership communities.

For the Centennial Campaign, Paula and David are recognized at the “Guardians” ($500,000+) level having generously increased their Lester/LOJE commitments to further secure the future of our UJA Annual Campaign and Greater MetroWest community. Their Centennial gift also includes a gift to the Fried-Saginaw Mission Endowment Fund and an endowment commitment for Congregation Agudath Israel.

The Fried-Saginaw Mission Endowment Fund was a proud sponsor of the Centennial Mission to Israel, providing the opportunity for many to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
