A Hanukkah Gift of Safety for Our Children

CSI security team with defibrillators for Hanukkah

This Hanukkah, in the spirit of light and community, the Gloria and Jesse Weissberg Community Security Initiative Team is proud to bring an extra measure of safety to our community’s children. As part of our ongoing commitment to preparedness and well-being, each Early Childhood Center (ECC), Jewish Day School, and Hebrew School in Greater MetroWest NJ will be gifted a portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Why an AED?
While cardiac emergencies in children are rare, they are time-sensitive and can occur without warning. Quick access to an AED is one of the most important factors in improving survival during a sudden cardiac arrest. By equipping our schools with modern, easy-to-use devices, we are empowering educators and caregivers with the tools they need to respond swiftly and confidently.

The Power of Portability
Traditional AEDs are wall-mounted, which limits their accessibility during emergencies that occur outside the classroom or outside the building. A portable AED, on the other hand, goes wherever you go. This means:

  • It can be taken with grab emergency bags during evacuations.
  • It can travel with staff and students on field trips and other off-site programs.
  • It can be brought outdoors during recess and playground time, ensuring coverage beyond the four walls of the school.

This flexibility ensures that lifesaving equipment is always within reach and ready for immediate use, no matter where children and staff may be.

We are deeply grateful to our educators, directors, and childcare teams who nurture our community’s youngest members every day. Providing these AEDs is one way we hope to support the essential work you do and to help ensure a safe environment for all.

Remember, we provide Pediatric CPR and First Aid Training too. Please contact our Director of Community Security Training, Greg Drucks, to book a session.
