Kibbutz Erez was attacked on October 7, when Hamas terrorists entered through the community’s blue gate. The terrorists used explosives, missiles, and grenades. Members of the first response team fought bravely to defend the kibbutz. Tragically, Amir Naim was killed, several others were injured, and the gate was destroyed.
Several months later, a new gate was installed. But it was yellow.
Last month, almost three years after the attack, the new cohort of Sh”Sh (pre-army volunteers) and participants in a Bar/Bat Mitzvah group joined Amir’s mother, Orna Naim, and a representative of the first response team to work together to restored the gate to its original blue.

Kibbutz Erez’s story of remembrance and resilience is one of many from October 7, when more than 1,200 innocent people were murdered and 251 hostages were taken. October 7 marks a day of profound loss and resilience for the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
