Judy Targan is an accomplished professional artist and philanthropist. Her paintings and limited edition prints are represented in hospitals, colleges, museums, corporate and private collections.

For 27 years, she was an active docent at the Newark Museum of Art and served on the visiting committee of the Smith College Museum of Art and the Art Committee of the Montclair Museum of Art.

From September-October, 2023, there was a solo exhibition of Judy’s paintings at the Gaelen Art Gallery of the JCC of MetroWest NJ.

Judy has done many commissions and tributes for nonprofit organizations and religious institutions, including a boxed set of notecards for UNICEF. She has also done a commission “To Life” for the Albert Einstein School of Medicine Women’s Division of Essex County, “Autumnal Equinox” for the American Cancer Society of New Jersey, four commemorative stamps for the United Synagogues of America and a commission “Sherut” for Temple Sharey-Tefilo Israel in South Orange, NJ.

Judy and her late husband, Ronald z”l, were generous supporters of our Federation for many years. Judy continues to be a most generous Achim level supporter of the UJA Annual Campaign, which recognizes donors of $100,000 or greater. She is also a proud Lion of Judah and has continued to increase her involvement as an active member of her synagogue, Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel.

In honor of Federation’s Centennial, Judy has generously sponsored one of our signature Centennial events, “Celebrating Federation’s Centennial through Community Art,” which will honor our community’s history and diversity through an exhibit highlighting art by people with disabilities.
