Shtick Together

Raising Jewish children? Interested in bringing more Judaism into your home?

Shtick Together creates and nurtures small groups of families with similar age children to celebrate Shabbat together.

Shtick Together groups are comprised of three to five families in nearby neighborhoods who will gather eight times between October and June for Shabbat experiences in one another’s homes. A Lead Family is selected to coordinate and plan these gatherings. Federation provides Lead Families with ongoing coaching and training to create meaningful Shabbat experiences with age-appropriate activities. Or simply be a Participating Family! Shtick Together groups are reimbursed for a portion of their expenses.

Shalom! Thanks for checking out Shtick Together. The application season has ended, but we’d still like to be in touch with you. Please fill out this form and feel free to contact either Justin Sakofs at or Leemor Ellman at to chat about how you can create meaningful Shabbat experiences in your home and within your community.

“Thank you for including me in this amazing experience. I really feel that has changed me and my community for the better. I feel more connected to people whom I am thrilled to count among my close friends that were strangers before this program.”
-Shtick Together Participant, 2016 - 2017
“I have stronger connections to other Jewish families in my community. I feel part of a Shtick that will last long beyond the duration of this program.”
-Shtick Together Participant, 2017 - 2018

We’ve operated this exciting program for two years through a grant from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (the folks who bring us PJ Library). This year, we’re thrilled to expand this program in the community.
