Julie Beren Platt, a pillar of Los Angeles Jewish life and American Jewish philanthropy, serves on the executive committee of The Jewish Federations of North America and as board chair of both the Foundation for Jewish Camp and The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. At the University of Pennsylvania, she serves on the executive committee of the Board of Trustees and was the founding co-chair of Penn Hillel’s national board of governors.

Mark Oppenheimer, Ph.D., hosts the Tablet magazine podcast Unorthodox, the #1-rated Jewish-culture podcast on iTunes. He wrote the “Beliefs” column for The New York Times from 2010-2016, and he directs the Yale Journalism Initiative. He is currently writing a book about Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh, in the aftermath of the Tree of Life shooting.
