One Year Later – Remembering October 7

This week, we paused to mark one year since October 7. Around the world, we came together to remember and especially hold in our hearts the lives lost, those we are still missing, those whose homes were destroyed or remain under fire and are displaced, and to show unity and resilience amid the surge of hate around the world.

While the war remains ongoing, and there are still 101 individuals held hostage in Gaza now for 370 days, we must continue to have hope and to be there for Israel and each other because we are stronger together.

Over the last year, The Jewish Agency, with support from our partners and global donors like you, has ramped up our efforts in Israel and around the world, expanded programs, and introduced new initiatives to better serve the Jewish State as it rebuilds and recovers.

Around the world, rallies and memorials took place on October 7 to remember and unite in support of Israel and the hostages. Watch a short reel featuring some of the gatherings.

To remember October 7 and spread hope during these dark times, we launched our Messages of Hope initiative before Rosh Hashanah, which invited people around the world to submit their message of hope for Israel and the Jewish people this year, with select messages projected onto our historic building in Jerusalem View some of the posts on our Jerusalem headquarters.

On October 7th, to mark one year since the attacks, we hosted a special online gathering featuring Amir Tibon, an acclaimed Israeli journalist for Haaretz who shared his personal October 7 story; Jewish Agency Chairman of the Executive Doron Almog who spoke about The Jewish Agency’s impact throughout Israel over the past year and our role and mission going forward; and Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin, Chair of The Jewish Agency Fund for Victims of Terror, which has been a crucial source of relief and support for thousands of victims of terror in the aftermath of the attacks and ensuing war. To watch the recording of the webinar, click here.
