More than 700 philanthropists gathered on May 8 at The Grove in Cedar Grove for the Women’s Philanthropy Centennial Celebration: Leading Community and Inspiring Change. The sold-out audience felt the energy and significance of learning from influential international leaders addressing the toughest challenges that American Jews of this generation are encountering.
The powerful evening honored Greater MetroWest women as changemakers – yesterday, today, and always. Attendees engaged in a meaningful conversation with Noa Tishby, two-time New York Times bestselling author and leader in pro-Israel activism, and Julie Platt, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA).
Platt proudly shared that Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest is one of the jewels in the crown of JFNA. She expressed gratitude for the women leaders and volunteers who continue to light the way for the community.
Tishby underscored the enduring resilience of the Jewish people’s 5,000-year history. While these may be challenging times, she said with certainty, “we do know one thing for sure and that is even a thousand years from now, women around the world are going to light Shabbat candles.”
She passionately called for action against antisemitism and for clarity on Israel’s truth, urging, “be patient, and arm yourself with education.” To learn more and take action now, visit jfedgmw.org/CombatAntisemitism
Tishby’s suggestion for simple things that people in the Jewish community can do? She advocated for expanding outreach beyond the Jewish community, encouraging everyone to “invite more friends (Jewish or not) to more Shabbat dinners… to reach outside the bubble.” It’s definitely something everyone can do to bring more light into the world and spread the joy of Jewish life.
