The Troupe, a musical comedy about an IDF entertainment troupe during the 1969 War of Attrition with Egypt, launched the careers of several iconic Israeli actors and musicians in 1978 including: Gidi Gov, Dov Glickman, and Meir Suissa. It has remained popular in Israel ever since, and continues to be shown annually on Israeli television.

The Troupe is the first film written and directed by Avi Nesher, who has special status among Israeli filmmakers. His films include Rage and Glory, Turn Left at the End of the World, The Matchmaker, Past Life, Image of Victory, and The Monkey House (NJJFF 2024).

Nesher will join us for a Q&A over Zoom in our theater immediately following the film.
