Shortly before his passing in August 2020, our own Bob Max z”l, an American hero and survivor of the Nazi slave labor camps in World War II, recorded his harrowing story for documentary produced by the nonprofit Backpacks for Life. This organization provides unique and personalized support to homeless and at-risk veterans struggling to reintegrate into civilian life.

Register for this program and you will receive an exclusive link to view the documentary, The Long March Home: An American Soldier’s Life as a Nazi Slave Laborer. Then join us for a webinar where we’ll hear from a panel discussing the trauma of the soldier’s experience – then and now. Panelists include the film’s director Greg Parker, WWII veteran Henry Bassman, Jewish Historical Society Director Linda Forgash, and Backpacks for Life Founder and President Sgt. Brett D’Alessandro. You’ll also hear a tribute to Bob by his family and friends.
