As part of its Kaplan Minyan series, Bnai Keshet Reconstructionist Synagogue features speaker Rabbi Rabbi Joy Levitt, the Director of J-Lab, a project of the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan that serves as an incubator of new ideas to help strengthen Jewish life. She is a Visiting Senior Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America.
Speaker will began around 11:15am, following shabbat services, which begin at 10am.
The Bnai Keshet Kaplan Minyan is named for Reconstructionist Judaism founder Mordecai Kaplan, who sought to create a Jewish framework for discussions of ethics, culture, history, and current events. They are designed for people who enjoy a communal Shabbat and want to enrich their understanding of Jewish peoplehood in an alternative, less traditional setting.
Bnai Keshet is an inclusive, welcoming, dynamic, progressive congregation and place of energetic spirituality. Founded in 1978, our name, Bnai Keshet, means Children of the Rainbow. This reflects our vision of a community that includes people of all races, family structures, ages, genders, sexualities, abilities, and educational, class and ethnic backgrounds. We celebrate Jewishness by birth, by choice, the curious, and the returning; single-faith and interfaith families. We are located at 99 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair NJ 07042.
