Almost Adulting: What Teens Need to Thrive

Date: Sunday, January 12
Time: 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm (EST)
Whippany*

As our teens grow and head toward adulthood, learning to be more independent and moving into their own spaces, we want to do what we can to support their growth.  Join us for this workshop to learn more about what our teens need to thrive!

For many teens and parents, balancing homework, extra-curricular activities, social outings, college visits/applications and family time seems like a never-ending struggle. Balancing each of these competing priorities is often a major source of conflict at home and may lead to stress, anxiety and ultimately inadvertently missing out on one of the many things being juggled.

In this workshop, Dr. Elana Spira provides tips on how we can support our teens into this next phase, sharing what they need to thrive and strategies to help our teens build and practice skills for organization, time management and planning to support their independence as they head off to college or new jobs.

We support and #StandWithIsrael as we continue to build a strong Jewish community here in NJ

Security at Federation Events

The Gloria and Jesse Weissberg Community Security Initiative (CSI) is coordinating all security with local, county, and state law enforcement. At every Federation event, all available resources are utilized to ensure your safety. Important items of note:

  • Bag policy: Backpacks, luggage, and large purses are not permitted at events. We encourage you not to bring a bag, if possible, or to bring a very small bag. All bags may be subject to search.
  • Additional security measures: Additional security procedures may be implemented (e.g. metal detectors) as needed.
  • Social media protocol: We ask you not to share the location of a Federation event prior to or during the event and to refrain from posting about a Federation activity until after it has ended, and the site is clear of attendees.

Building an inclusive community is a priority. Please email [email protected] to let us know if you require an accommodation to meaningfully participate in an event. One of our Federation professionals will reach out to you to learn more.
