Join us as we remember and honor Paula Grossman, long-time member of Temple Sholom, whose 21st yahrzeit is September 26.
In 1971, Paul Grossman transitioned to Paula. This led to her dismissal as a music teacher from Cedar Hill Elementary School in Bernards Township where she had taught for over 30 years, and a lawsuit to obtain her rightful pension.
Now, over 50 years later, Paula Grossman is remembered for her courage and dedication to LBGTQ+ civil rights. Learn more from Austin Norrid, a Ph.D. student in Music Education at the Pennsylvania State University who is writing his dissertation about Paula Grossman; and Bernie Wagenblast (aka, the voice of the NYC subways), who as a teenager, was deeply affected by Paula Grossman’s story. Bernie transitioned in 2023.
All are welcome. RSVP is helpful for planning. [email protected].
