Town Hall Webinar: A Discussion of the Situation at Rutgers University

Date: Sunday, May 5
Time: 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm (EDT)
Zoom

On Thursday, Rutgers University officials shamefully agreed to most of the demands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in exchange for the dismantling of a tent encampment on campus. Those demands include releasing a statement “acknowledging the ongoing genocide against Palestinians;” hiring professors on Middle East and Palestine studies and establishing a full department for those subjects; and providing full amnesty for all students, student groups, faculty, and staff who participated in the protests. This comes after months of harassment and bullying of Jewish students, occupying buildings, disrupting classes, and the cancellation of the first round of final exams on Thursday.

Join Jewish Federations across the state to hear more about what is happening for Jewish students and faculty at Rutgers, and next steps for getting this decision reversed. Discussion with Lisa Harris Glass, CEO Rutgers University Hillel, and Joseph J. Gindi, Rutgers sophomore and member of the Chancellor’s Committee on Jewish Life, moderated by Linda Scherzer, JCRC Director at Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ.

We support and #StandWithIsrael as we continue to build a strong Jewish community here in NJ
