We are excited to cosponsor this panel, hosted by 18Doors, which aims to help people feel more comfortable talking to their partner and families about interfaith issues related to the December holidays. The program will include a panel discussion with interfaith couples addressing how they’ve navigated the holidays and encouraging discussion among attendees about how they might celebrate the holidays this year.
The panel will feature Sarah and Dan and Josh and Mat, two interfaith couples, and will be moderated by Adam Pollack, 18Doors’ Chief Program Officer.

Sarah and Dan, an interfaith couple from Boston, have been married since 2020. Sarah was born Jewish and is active in cultural Jewish life. Dan, though born into a Catholic family and does not wish to convert, supports raising their baby Jewish. They have enjoyed sharing both Jewish and Christian holiday traditions with their families, and now focus on creating their own family traditions to share with their young daughter. They look forward to sharing their story (the good, exciting, bad and ugly) with other interfaith couples.

Josh and Mat married in DC in 2019 before moving to San Diego with their dog Minerva. Josh grew up in rural Pennsylvania and was raised Methodist. Mat grew up in the New York City area and is Jewish. They went on Honeymoon Israel in 2022 and since then have enjoyed celebrating Jewish and Christian holidays with the friends they made on that trip.

Adam Pollack wakes up every day asking himself how he can bring meaning and purpose to the world. He sees 18Doors’s mission as the answer to that call by equipping interfaith families and couples with the knowledge and resources to make Jewish choices. Adam brings a wealth of experience in philanthropy, organizational development, Jewish education and young adult engagement. He firmly believes that talented people, when gathered together and properly supported, can do transformational work. He’s grateful to work alongside talented colleagues dedicated to a shared vision of a more inclusive community that reflects our diversity. In his spare time, Adam serves on the board of Sha’ar Zahav, a LGBTQ+ synagogue in San Francisco where he lives, and prior to starting in his current role, sat on the 18Doors Bay Area Leadership Council. On weekends, he can be found running trails across the Bay Area and hanging out with his husband, Nathan, and their dog, Stewie. |
