Meet Jennifer & Peter Rosenblatt

Proud Parents of Involved Teens

“JTEEN has been great. After our sons’ bar-mitzvahs, we struggled to find “cool” Jewish programming. We wanted something that thoughtfully incorporates Jewish values in a way that appeals to them.”

How are you involved in Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ?

Our family has been involved in various one-off activities for some time. When both of our sons became more involved in JTEEN, Federation’s Jewish Teens Educational Experience Network, we increased our family’s efforts to be more vested overall. Our high-school aged sons have participated in almost every Federation program for teens, including Mitzvah Mania, Volunteens, Here.Now.GMW, Iris Teen Tzedakah and Justice League.

What’s been the best part about participating in Federation’s teen programming?

After our sons’ bar-mitzvahs, we struggled to find “cool” Jewish teen programming. We wanted something that thoughtfully incorporates Jewish values and ideals in a way that appeals to them. Both boys have benefitted and grown immensely through the leadership opportunities of JTEEN. The quality of the programming, combined with the Jewish values, motivates them to stay involved. And as parents, keeping our sons active during the pandemic has provided much-needed normalcy.

What do you wish other people knew about Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ?

How high-quality and meaningful the programming is. We are very impressed with the level of professionalism, education and training that the JTEEN staff possesses, and we appreciate how the JTEEN team has made authentic and long-lasting connections with both of our boys. We also like meeting other kids and families from other parts of the Greater MetroWest NJ community.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about getting involved in Jewish Federation?

Federation is comprised of diverse members of the Jewish community who get involved in ways that fit their needs. Federation is a place for Jews of all denominations, levels of observance and Jewish knowledge. Yes, there is a philanthropic component, which is a part of all non-profit organizations, but Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ is so much more than that. Our engagement with Federation has deeply enriched our family and we look forward to continuing to be involved long-after our kids “graduate” from JTEEN.

See what JTEEN can provide for the children in your life.
