Mitzvah of the Moment: Summer Supplies Collection

For this month’s Mitzvah of the Moment, we’re asking for your help in providing essential summer supplies for community members in need. Collected supplies will be distributed to clients of the MEND Hunger Relief Network of Essex County as well as to first-time recipients of our Federation need-based camp scholarships*.

We need the following items:

  • Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
  • Bug spray
  • Mini-sized flashlights (with appropriate-size batteries)

We’re accepting donations of these items at drop-off locations throughout Greater MetroWest from Wednesday, May 18 through Wednesday, May 25 and we’re hosting a packing party where we’ll sort donations and pack duffels for campers on Thursday, June 9 at 10 a.m. at the Aidekman Jewish Community Campus in Whippany (space is limited).

Please register for drop-off locations and/or to help unpack and sort the supplies and fill the duffle bags. With your help we can provide children in our community with the most amazing summer!

Effective May 2022 and until further notice: Attendees of in-person events and programs must be fully vaccinated, including booster for adults (18+) and 2 doses for children ages 5-17, and be able to provide proof of vaccination. *This summer, Federation is providing need-based scholarships to help send more than 140 Greater MetroWest children to Jewish overnight camp this summer. Along with the scholarship, 36 recipients who are first-time campers will receive a camp duffle bag packed with camp essentials.
