Since 1939, Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) has helped tens of thousands of individuals and families who are experiencing challenges become productive members of the Greater MetroWest community by giving them the tools and training necessary to achieve economic self-sufficiency and, in turn, make valuable and valued contributions to society.

Our mission is founded on the teaching that helping people help themselves is the highest form of tzedakah, or social justice—and, our vision of creating a world where everyone is empowered to fulfill their own potential, regardless of the challenges they may be experiencing, compels us to reach out to “the others” among us, those whom society often ignores, including:

  • The unemployed and underemployed, including recent college graduates, people looking to return to the workforce, Adults 50+ who have been “downsized,” and others seeking a career transition
  • Immigrants and refugees
  • Military veterans
  • Adults who have physical, intellectual, or psychiatric disabilities, including those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Low-income individuals and families
  • High school students who have disabilities and who need assistance developing career goals and transitioning from school to the adult world

To meet the needs of the diverse populations we serve, JVS provides a myriad of programs and services:

  • Career counseling and job placement assistance, including help identifying transferable job skills, developing a personal career plan, creating strategic goals, networking, resume writing, interviewing, and one-on-one job search coaching and support
  • Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, Citizenship classes, and refugee services
  • Case management and assistance connecting to community resources
  • Vocational rehabilitation services, including job skills training, individualized coaching, career counseling, and hands-on experiences
  • Need-based, interest-free student loans

Guided by our Jewish history and values, JVS believes each of us has something of value to contribute to the world—and everyone deserves to live and be treated with dignity.
