Golda Och Academy is accepting applications for a Learning Support Coordinator at the Upper School campus for the 2022-2023 school year.

Summary
The Learning Support Coordinator is a full-time faculty position reporting to the Director of Student Services. In this position, the Learning Support Coordinator will collaborate with the leadership in furthering the learning support framework for the school. The Coordinator is responsible for leading the learning support program in their school and overseeing a team of Learning Specialists. In addition to leading the program, the Learning Support Coordinator will manage a caseload of their own, ensuring students receive the tools and support necessary to succeed.

Job Responsibilities
Leadership

  • Believe deeply in the mission of the school and that all children can meet high academic expectations.
  • Provide leadership to, collaborate with, and act as a resource to the community, faculty, and administrative team on all matters pertaining to learning support in assigned school.
  • Oversee and guide a process of systematic, intentional and developmentally appropriate learning support as students transition from the Lower to Upper School in conjunction with your counterpart at the other school.
  • Articulate and execute a process for managing students’ individual academic plans and ensuring that the school’s academic standards are upheld.
  • Coordinate school-wide professional development in the areas of learning differences and learning support for teachers and staff.
  • Provide leadership and supervision in the day-to-day operations of the learning support program.
  • Serve as a resource for families and facilitate conversations around the school’s learning support program, accommodations, and students’ individual academic plans.
  • Remain current in the research and act as a resource to faculty and administration in the areas of curriculum, assessment practices and instruction, including their implications for the school’s programs.
  • Demonstrate maturity, humility, professionalism, confidence, and a strong work ethic inside and outside the classroom.

Student Services

  • Apply knowledge of learning disabilities and psychoeducational tests and assistive technology.
  • Review testing, create and update individual academic plans, and facilitate and assist in discussions related to learning differences.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum.
  • Deliver content and instruction to students by building strong relationships.
  • Support teachers in differentiating plans for students based on their unique learning profiles so that all students are engaged and challenged and each student has the opportunity for success.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop effective whole group practices, small group interventions, and individualized learning activities.
  • Assist teachers with determining the effectiveness of interventions and accommodations.
  • Advise teachers and Division Heads on accommodations processes for school-wide assessments.
  • May manage a caseload of students and provide direct student support through small group and/or one-on-one instruction.
  • Be accountable for student’s mastery of academic standards and individual academic plan goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certification (LDTC) preferred.
  • At least 5 years prior experience in the field of learning support with a record of high achievement.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required, 5+ years preferred.
  • Familiarity with neuro-psychoeducational testing, individual academic plan processes, and reporting.
  • Effective communication skills that promote positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Understanding of independent schools.
