The Director of Global Connections NJ creates and fosters connections between the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, Israel and the Jewish Diaspora through community engagement and people-to-people connections. The director will work with a dynamic team to develop and implement all parts of Federation’s Israel and Overseas work, including but not limited to, allocations, building community partnerships, fostering lay volunteer relationships and communicating impact to the community.


• Direct and serve as liaison for all of Federation’s work in Israel and Overseas
• Serve as a community resource for Israel and oversees related inquiries and interests
• Coordinate, cultivate, and educate Federation’s Global Connections allocations committees
• Strengthen community-wide partnerships around Israel engagement with Jewish organizations and synagogues
• Oversee the relationship with Greater MetroWest’s 8 overseas partners (7 in Israel and 1 in Cherkassy, Ukraine) including the 10-15 people-to-people delegations that visit GMW each year
• Identify and support local community partners around Israel celebrations and events
• Oversee the Shlichim (emissaries) Program
• Together with the Federation’s planning and marketing teams, provide and develop strategies to raise Israel and Overseas’ profile in the community
• Represent the Federation both within and outside of the Jewish community
• Oversee the community-wide programs for Yom HaAtzmaut and Yom HaZikaron
• Work with Federation’s Annual Campaign team to identify and increase philanthropic dollars and donors directing gifts to Federation for Israel and Overseas-related work
• Directly supervise several professionals and indirectly supervise shlichim


• Significant experience building partnerships and relationships around a shared vison and mutual respect
• Strong personal presence that educates, motivates and inspires collaboration
• Experience working with international partner organizations
• Understanding of the diaspora Jewish community and Israel historical and present
• Ability to discuss Israel with people of varying educational, religious and political backgrounds
• Ability to work occasional evening hours and travel throughout Israel and Overseas as needed
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership, managerial and administrative skills
• Experience forming and managing lay and professional committees
• Knowledge of Hebrew spoken and written preferred but not required
• Bachelor’s degree plus 8-10 years of achievement in non-profit organizations
