The Community Relations Committee, CRC, is the government affairs, Israel advocacy and community relations building department of Jewish Federation.   Our work includes developing close relationships with federal, state, and local elected leaders, advancing our legislative agenda, engaging the community in Israel education and advocacy, networking with other faith and ethnic communities, promoting social justice and combating antisemitism.

The Associate, a new position at Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, will support the CRC Director and Associate Director in a wide range of work that supports the community and government relations work of Federation.

Together with the Director, Associate Director, and administrative support staff, the Associate will be part of a growing and exciting team at Federation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Elevate the visibility of the department by creating and implementing a communications strategy, with a focus on social media. Increase engagement across Facebook and Twitter with multiple posts a week.
  • Support advocacy efforts on behalf of Jewish day schools, agencies, aligned organizations and coalitions, including but not limited to, drafting testimony, writing letters to elected officials, and coordinating grassroots advocacy efforts.
  • Prepare written documents such as one-pagers to be used in advocacy efforts.
  • Research legislation that is relevant to various constituencies, including day schools, older adults, and individuals with disabilities. Stay up to date with legislative news.
  • Assist with program planning such as drafting annotated agendas, talking points, and liaising with speakers/presenters.
  • Attend virtual and in person advocacy efforts such as rallies and press conferences to represent our Federation as needed.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings and events with government partners, likeminded and aligned organizations, and members of the broader community

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience working in public affairs, government, non-profit, advocacy, or a similar entity
  • Strong writing skills
  • Graphic design skills using Canva or a similar program to be able to make social content
