The Associate JCRC Director will be directly responsible for Greater MetroWest’s legislative advocacy work primarily at the state level, as well as coordinator of GMW’s Newark Initiative.  The Associate JCRC Director will work together with the directors of GMW’s Day School Initiative, CARES (older adults) and ABLE (disabilities community) to advance our legislative priorities.  Together with the JCRC Director, the Associate Director will be part of a four-person CRC team which will identify priorities, develop long-term strategies, and respond to the daily demands and challenges facing the department.

Objectives for Legislative Advocacy
The objective of the Government Affairs and Legislative Advocacy division of JCRC is to maximize financial support at the federal, state and county level for the 20 affiliated agencies of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest; strengthen laws which impact social service delivery and philanthropy; support the JCRC’s domestic public policy goals; engage elected officials and their staffs in Federation activities and educate and engage community members in JCRC’s public policy work.


  • Act as an advocacy resource for Federation’s partner agencies, day schools and synagogues, in close collaboration with internal Federation departments.
  • Collaborate with Jewish Federations of NJ and the four partner Federation JCRCs to foster a strong NJ Jewish community and presence across the state.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with advocacy organizations across NJ on issues of importance to Federation and its partners on issues related to social justice, the needs of older adults, individuals with disabilities, nonpublic schools, and social services.
  • Focus on communal relationship building between Federation and its local, state, and federal elected representatives and community leaders.
  • Assist JCRC Director with planning state and federal advocacy missions and other events as needed.
  • Work with Federation’s Social Media Manager to Maintain JCRC’s social media, specifically Twitter and Facebook, with a focus on advocacy, community engagement and Jewish communal relations.

Objectives for Newark Initiatives
The objective is to develop and nurture a positive relationship between the Greater MetroWest Jewish community and the City of Newark by honoring the history of the Jewish community in Newark, contributing to the life of the city, and joining partnerships with other ethnic and faith communities.


  • Partner with Federation colleagues to coordinate current array of Federation programs in Newark and with Newark-based partners, including JCRC programs, Holocaust Council educational programs, Center for Volunteerism programs, the Jewish Historical Society archives, and GMW Hillel chapters at NJIT and Rutgers Newark, among others.
  • Envision and develop more opportunities for Federation departments to provide programs and services for and with Newark-based community partners.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with non-profits and local organizations in Newark.
  • Connect with local, state, and federal elected representatives and community leaders about issues of concern to the GMW Jewish community and to the City of Newark.
