“Defiant Requiem” is a 2014 Emmy nominated documentary that illuminates the extraordinary, untold story of the brave acts of spiritual resistance of Jewish prisoners at Terezin. Through hunger, disease, and slave labor, the Jewish prisoners held onto their humanity by staging plays, composing opera, and using paper and ink to record the horrors around them.

Dr. Amy Weiss is the Director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education at the College of Saint Elizabeth. Her research and publications focus on the intersections of American Jewish history, Israel Studies, and Jewish-Christian relations, including her current book on Jewish-Protestant interfaith relations and the Arab-Israeli conflict. She received her PhD from New York University. Dr. Weiss celebrated her Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, and Hebrew High School graduation from Temple Sinai. What a treat to welcome Dr. Weiss to Temple Sinai!
